The 2019 Southern Gallaudet Regional Academic Competition for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing High School Students will be hosted by Mississippi School for the Deaf February 21-24, 2019. Twenty teams will compete over the two-day period. The top four teams will advance to the National Competition to be held in Washington, DC in April 2019.
The Academic Bowl for Deaf and Hard of Hearing High School students was established with the goal of fostering the pursuit of academic excellence, promoting a spirit of academic competition and sportsmanship, and providing social opportunities for the development of collegiality and lifelong friendships.
Every year, Gallaudet University hosts four Regional competitions for up to 80 teams of Deaf and Hard of Hearing high school students. Teams placing first through fourth will then advance to the National competition held at Gallaudet.
MSD has competed in the Academic Competition for over 20 years. This is the second Academic Bowl Competition hosted by MSD. The competition was last hosted in 2006. If you would like to learn more about the Academic Bowl for Deaf and Hard of Hearing high school students, see below:
